Dr. John R. Lott Jr. is an economist and leading expert who's studied President Obama's and Congress's plans for healthcare reform. Dr. Lott has written numerous editorial pieces analyzing and critiquing these plans and will provide us with an up-to-date analysis of the pending healthcare reform measures.
Dr. Lott is a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park. He has previously held research positions at other academic institutions including the University of Chicago, Yale University, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and the American Enterprise Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA, and his areas of research include econometrics, law and economics, public choice theory, industrial organization, public finance, microeconomics, labor economics, and environmental regulation.
Dr. Lott is also an expert on 2nd Amendment law and policy and free market economic theories. His work to debunk the myths that surround gun ownership has changed the national debate. Dr. Lott's most recent books are: Freedomnomics: Why the Free Market Works and Other Half-Baked Theories Don't and The Bias Against Guns: Why Almost Everything You've Heard About Gun Control is Wrong. He may be best known for his book - More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun-Control Laws.
