Professor Zywicki will address the causes of the mortgage crisis and the resulting foreclosure crisis. His presentation will include discussion of the broader set of problems that have arisen in the wake of the mortgage crisis, including problems in the banking and automotive industries. Professor Zywicki will also discuss various proposals to respond to the crisis, including proposed changes to the bankruptcy laws and federal regulation of consumer credit.

A native of Greenville, Professor Zywicki received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, an M.A. in Economics from Clemson University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. He has served as Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, and has taught in the areas of Bankruptcy, Contracts, Commercial Law, Business Associations, Law & Economics, and Public Choice and the Law.
