The Speaker of the Missouri House assigned to Committee for recommendation two proposals to change the manner in which judges are appointed to the Missouri Supreme Court, Courts of Appeals and the trial courts in Kansas City and St. Louis. One is modeled after the Federal appointment process (Governor nominates and Senate Approves) http://www.house.mo.gov/bills071/bills/hjr31.htm and the other would have the General Assembly appoint the members of the Bar to the judicial appointment commission instead of the Missouri Bar and permit the Governor to nominate the candidate subject to Commission approval The panel will discuss the pros and cons of the current process of appointing judges and the new plans.

Cost of lunch is $15 payable at the door.
