The efficacy and usefulness of cash bail is under debate across the country. Some advocate the elimination of cash bail altogether. Professors Duffy and Hynes recently published a University of Chicago Law Review article (https://lawreview.uchicago.edu/publication/asymmetric-subsidies-and-bail-crisis) where they propose an alternative funding mechanism: government subsidy of bail. The professors will join us for lunch to discuss their alternative proposal.
