For 30 years, federal law has utilized an array of mandatory minimum sentences for various drug offenses.  Those laws and other mandatory minimums have come under attack for the impact they have on defendants.  Just recently, significant efforts have been made to reform federal law to reduce or outright abolish mandatory minimums.  Come hear Professor William Otis, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center, debate Kevin Ring, Vice-President of Families Against Mandatory Minimums, on the use of mandatory minimums and sentencing reform generally.

(Note that this is NOT our usual venue.  There are a number of public parking options near UNT Dallas College of Law's campus; the Elm Street Garage is the closest garage and has a skybridge between it and the school.)

Lunch will be provided.
