Hundreds of millions of dollars in damages are at stake. An appeals court rebuffed the companies' attempt to move from state to federal court. Now the Supreme Court will consider whether the companies' refining contracts with the federal government dating back to World War II establish federal court jurisdiction under the Federal Officer Removal Statute.
