March 20, 2026This conference marks the twentieth anniversary of Associate Justice Samuel Alito’s service on the Supreme Court of the United States and offers an examination of his career and enduring influence on American law. From his early public service in the Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, to his tenure on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and ultimately his first two decades of service on the nation’s highest court, Justice Alito’s professional path reflects a sustained engagement with questions of constitutional structure, individual liberty, the rule of law, and more.
Bringing together leading scholars and practitioners, this conference will explore Justice Alito’s judicial philosophy and assess his impact across multiple areas of law. Panel discussions will examine his overall jurisprudence, his influence on criminal justice, his contributions to the development of religious liberty and First Amendment doctrine, and his approach to statutory interpretation.
