Drone warfare and civilian killings have been the topics of intense debate in Congress and the media. Professor Gregory S. McNeal of Pepperdine University will discuss the legal justification for the U.S. practice of targeted killings as well as the bureaucratic and political approval process for conducting drone strikes.

Gregory McNeal is a professor at Pepperdine University where he focuses on national security law and policy. He previously served as Assistant Director of the Institute for Global Security, co-directed a transnational counterterrorism grant program for the U.S. Department of Justice, and served as a legal consultant to the Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Defense Office of Military Commissions on matters related to the prosecution of suspected terrorists held in the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

General admission to the luncheon is $45.
State, county and city attorneys as well as students are invited to attend at a discounted rate of $35 per person.
Members of the media are invited to attend the luncheon at no cost.

Attorneys can receive one continuing legal education (CLE) credit for attending the luncheon.
