Roger Martin is the Senior Vice President, Chief IP Strategist at Qualcomm, Inc. He attended the University of California, San Diego under a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated in 1988 with a BSEE degree. Upon graduation, he received his commission as a Naval Officer, serving honorably during the first Gulf War. Immediately upon leaving active duty, he started at Qualcomm in 1993 as an engineer. He attended the University of San Diego School of Law at night while working at Qualcomm full-time as a patent agent during the day, drafting and prosecuting many of Qualcomm's fundamental patents. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 1997. Over the last 15 years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility and now leads a department of over 300 people who have overall responsibility for the development of Qualcomm's IP portfolio.
