Laura Stanley

Law Clerk, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit

Laura Stanley currently serves as a Law Clerk to Hon. Ryan D. Nelson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to this role, she clerked for Judge Stephen S. Schwartz on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Laura Stanley was previously a senior policy analyst at the GW Regulatory Studies Center and an economist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. While at EPA, Laura worked on developing regulations promulgated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. She began her career researching the empirical effects of regulation at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

Laura received a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and an M.A. in economics from George Mason University. During law school, she was an Articles Editor for The George Washington Law Review, and she received the Gellhorn-Sargentich Law Student Essay Award for her essay on Appointments Clause issues with the Guantanamo military commissions.
