Equality and Equity: Contemporary Debates about Civil Rights in the Era of DEI

Join us to hear from experts who will discuss the history, current state, and future of civil rights. These experts will address whether we have moved away from what many perceive to be the primary goal of the civil rights movement - guaranteeing nondiscrimination – to goals of “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” If so, is that a good development? If not, is there a basis in law for encouraging or even requiring equitable outcomes?

  • Moderator: Linda Chavez, Chairman, Center for Equal Opportunity
  • GianCarlo Canaparo, Senior Legal Fellow, Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies The Heritage Foundation
  • Aditi Juneja, Executive Director, Democracy 2076
  • Dr. Jesse Merriam, Associate Professor of Government; Pre-Law Advisor, Patrick Henry College

Register to join us on May 22 for a luncheon program starting at 12:00 p.m. EST at the Mayflower Hotel.
