Denise Harle on Life After Roe: Abortion Law and Litigation Following Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health

Orange County Lawyers Chapter

In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey and held there is no federal constitutional right to abortion. Whether and under what circumstances abortion will be lawful will now be decided by the states. The focus will now turn to the states.

For example, the high courts in at least nine states have held a right to abortion exists in the state constitution. Does Dobbs and the fall of Roe undermine these opinions? Also, legislative restrictions on abortions will come under legal challenge.

Denise Harle has been at the center of many of the legal challenges to Roe and Casey, including assisted Mississippi’s legal team in Dobbs. Ms. Harle will speak about the current federal and state court litigation in the wake of Dobbs
