Structural Constitution Initiative
May 20, 2026The Federalist Society's Structural Constitution Initiative is designed to be the premier national forum for elevating the importance of the framework its Founders designed: the separation of powers among the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches, and the federalism that divides authority between the national government and the states.
When the Federalist Society was founded in 1982, its mission statement declared that "the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution"—a conviction rooted in the Founders' insight that the structure of our government is essential to preserving freedom.
Building on more than 40 years of experience, the Federalist Society's new Structural Constitution Initiative will convene lawyers, scholars, judges, law students, and policymakers across the country for serious dialogue about how our constitutional structure has secured American liberty for nearly 250 years—and how it can be strengthened and renewed to secure our liberty for the next 250 years.
