Speaker:

  • Hon. Arlen Specter, United States Senate

Senator Arlen Specter has been a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee since he was elected in 1980. As such, he has played an instrumental role in many of the Senate's most important actions, such as the recent confirmations of Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. and Justice Samuel Alito. Senator Specter will discuss the Judiciary Committee's current docket, including the state of judicial confirmations, immigration reform, and Justice Department oversight. After his remarks, Senator Specter looks forward to a spirited question and answer session with Federalist Society members and friends. Arlen Specter is Pennsylvania's longest serving U.S. Senator. He is Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and a senior member of the Appropriations
and Veterans Affairs Committees.
