Description

Public service in state and federal government can be a rewarding career path for law students and young lawyers who are interested in law and public policy. Our panel will discuss why you should work in public service, when you should work in public service, how to navigate between jobs within public service, whether to serve in a political appointment or a career position, how to transition into and out of public service, and how to align your career choices with your personal values and policy views.

Description

How should courts apply Article 1, Section 22 of the Ohio Constitution? What's the original public meaning of the text? Is it circumscribed like proponents claimed? Is it broad and sweeping like opponents claimed? What should a court do with any vagueness in the text? For the meaning of terms like "burden", should courts use the prior analysis from federal cases like Planned Parenthood v. Casey? Ultimately, what is the duty of a court in applying this provision?
