STEPHEN F. RAIOLA is an experienced litigator and business lawyer whose practice is national in scope and has worked extensively on matters involving intellectual property litigation, product liability litigation, mass torts, class actions, and commercial litigation. In addition, Mr. Raiola is an emerging member of Pennsylvania’s appellate bar, who currently serves as counsel of record on a cert petition pending before the U.S. Supreme Court and has personally briefed nine appellate matters across four federal circuits, the New York State Appellate Division, and the Pennsylvania Superior Court in addition to presenting oral argument on three separate occasions as lead counsel in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third and Ninth Circuits. Reinforcing his emergence in the appellate bar, Mr. Raiola was recently appointed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to advise the Court as amicus curiae on the constitutionality of a New Jersey law, underscoring the respect that the Court has for his prior work.

Before making the decision to return to Pittsburgh, Mr. Raiola spent four years with a leading international law firm in Washington D.C. During that time he served as:

  • National counsel for a distributor in the nationwide opioid litigation.
  • Trial counsel for a branded pharmaceutical company in a patent matter.
  • Successfully represented clients as lead counsel in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third and the Ninth Circuits.

Prior to his relocation to Washington D.C., he was an associate at an international law firm in New York City and clerked for Judge D. Michael Fisher on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Raiola is recognized in the Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch 2023 edition for his practice in Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions.

Active in community service, Mr. Raiola has performed thousands of hours of pro bono legal services for indigent civil litigants in Courts of Appeals throughout the country and has served in several leadership roles in the Federalist Society. At present, Mr. Raiola is the Vice President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Federalist Society, where he has organized events with Judge William S. Stickman IV and Jim Schultz and played a lead role in organizing the Society’s annual Third Circuit Conference. Prior to that, Mr. Raiola served on the Board of the D.C. Young Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society, where he organized events with former Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, and accomplished Supreme Court litigator Kannon Shanmugam.

Mr. Raiola is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center where he was a Rowing National Champion.
