Seth Galanter

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office for Civil Rights, United States Department of Education

Seth Galanter serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights in the Department of Education.  

Seth started his career at the Department of Justice, where he worked in the Civil Rights Division.  During his 8 years there, he argued over 40 cases in the courts of appeals on a range of topics, including sexual harassment under Title IX.

Seth later moved into private practice at Morrison and Foerster, where he was in the Appellate Practice Group.  During his time there, Seth argued two cases in the Supreme Court.   Seth was also named Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year during this time by the Washington DC Bar for his work regarding people with disabilities.  

Seth joined the Department of Education in 2011.
