Allen Dickerson

Legal Director, Institute for Free Speech

Allen Dickerson is Legal Director of the Institute for Free Speech, where he leads the Institute’s nationwide litigation efforts. He has represented individuals and organizations in First Amendment challenges before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Ninth, Tenth, and D.C. Circuits, the Supreme Courts of Colorado and Nevada, and various trial courts.

In addition to his work as a litigator, Allen is a frequent speaker on First Amendment, campaign finance, and regulatory matters. He has testified before Congress and state legislatures, and regularly comments on actions of the FEC, IRS, SEC, and other federal agencies. His writing has appeared in a range of publications, including the Harvard Business Law Review, Naval Law Review, Toledo Law Review, Campaigns & Elections, and USA Today.

Previously, Allen was a litigation associate with the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He is a graduate of Yale College and New York University School of Law.
