Constitutional Law Fellow, The Becket Fund

Abigail Smith is a Constitutional Law Fellow at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and specializes in First Amendment law. She has represented large religious universities, small religious student clubs, and others in cases from coast to coast, including at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Before joining Becket, Abigail was an associate at the trial boutique Hueston Hennigan LLP, where she worked on a wide range of complex commercial and patent litigation matters on behalf of technology companies and the Houston Astros. Abigail also clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit for the Honorable Judge Michael B. Brennan.

Abigail graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 2018, where she won the 2018 Hinton Moot Court Competition. Before law school, she received her B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature and her B.S. in Economics, both summa cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. Abigail also spent a year at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She now lives with her husband and children outside Dallas, Texas
