Joint Lawyers and Students Event

October 30, 2025

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED

The combined lawyers’ chapters of the Federalist Society of South Carolina and of the University of South Carolina School of Law are hosting two panels to mark the 40th anniversary of Ed Meese’s pathbreaking address to the American Bar Association on originalism and the rule of law.

The first panel, “The Last 40 Years: Where we’ve been in the rule of law,” is moderated by Judge Julius Richardson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and will feature as panelists Steve Matthews and Ken Cribb, early leaders in the Federalist Society from South Carolina. The second panel, “The Next 40 Years: Where we’re going in the rule of law,” is moderated by Judge Marvin Quattlebaum of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and will feature as panelists Christopher Mills of Spero Law and Miles Coleman of Nelson Mullins, two current leaders of South Carolina Federalist Society lawyers’ chapters.
