David Bernhardt served as the 53rd Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 11, 2019 and took office on the same day. He began working for the United States Department of the Interior in 2001, and served as the department's solicitor from 2006 to 2009 and deputy secretary from 2017 to 2019.
David currently serves as the Chair of the Center for American Freedom at America First Policy Institute.
