Professor Andrew Willinger teaches constitutional law and civil procedure. His academic interests include the Second Amendment, gun regulation and the use of history and tradition to decide constitutional cases. His scholarship on these issues has been published in the Washington University Law Review, the Notre Dame Law Review, the Wake Forest Law Review and cited by federal district and appellate courts.
Before coming to Georgia State, Professor Willinger served as the executive director of the Duke Center for Firearms Law and a lecturing fellow at Duke University School of Law. While at Duke, he made numerous media appearances to discuss firearms law issues, including being interviewed by CNN, NPR, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Professor Willinger previously worked as a commercial litigation associate at Patterson Belknap in New York and in the corporate department of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. From 2018-2019, he clerked for the Honorable William L. Osteen, Jr. of the Middle District of North Carolina. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from Duke in 2016 and was a member of the Duke Law Journal.
