Paul Matzko is a historian and a former research fellow for media studies. His book, The Radio Right: How a Band of Broadcasters Took on the Federal Government and Built the Modern Conservative Movement, was published by Oxford University Press. It has been described as “impressively researched and lucidly written” (Wall Street Journal), “provocative,” (New Republic), and “terrifically entertaining” (New York Journal of Books).
Matzko’s research focuses on mass media in all its forms, from the abuse of the Fairness Doctrine in the 1960s to radical proposals to impose link taxes on the internet. He is also an active TikToker with multiple viral videos covering policy and history.
Matzko has written articles for the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, Christianity Today, and the Knight First Amendment Institute.
