Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Purdue Pharma L.P.

Mr. Marc L. Kesselman is General Counsel of Purdue Pharma L.P. since July 24, 2018. He served as the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Yum! Brands, Inc. since February 1, 2016 until 2018 and its Chief Government Affairs Officer since November 2016 until 2018 and served as its Chief Legal Officer since February 1, 2016. Mr. Kesselman served as an Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary & Government Affairs at Dean Foods Company since January 26, 2015 until January 15, 2016. Mr. Kesselman served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at PepsiCo (Frito-Lay North America, Inc). He oversees a wide variety of legal, regulatory, government affairs and policy issues relating to PepsiCo’s food and snack business in North and South America. At PepsiCo, he oversaw a wide variety of complex commercial, transactional, litigation, regulatory and government affairs issues relating to PepsiCo's food business in North and South America. Mr. Kesselman served as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. After being nominated to this position by the U.S. President and unanimously confirmed by the Senate, he advised the Secretary of Agriculture and directed all legal activity for the department. Before joining the USDA, he served as Deputy General Counsel in the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he handled a wide range of regulatory, budgetary and legal policy matters, mediated interagency disputes and formulated presidential executive orders. He also worked at the U.S. Department of Justice as senior counsel in the Office of Legal Policy and as a trial attorney in the civil division. Previously, Mr. Kesselman worked as an attorney at a Washington, D.C. law firm. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Julia S. Gibbons, then chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He serves on the Board of the Dallas Symphony, the Board of the Texas General Counsel Forum and on the Counsel of 30 for Dallas CASA. His work there earned him the John Marshall Award, the Attorney Generals highest recognition for trial of litigation. He also worked as an attorney in Ropes & Gray. Mr. Kesselman BS in Government from Cornell University and JD in law from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
