Alternatives Pregnancy Center is a religious non-profit licensed medical clinic and pregnancy resource center that is a member of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. Since 1983, the Center has provided for women and children by holding true to its life-affirming core values, including meeting the emergency needs of women and men facing an unexpected pregnancy and empowering them to build a positive future for themselves and their children. As a member of NIFLA, the Center challenged a California law that required licensed medical centers that offer free, pro-life help to pregnant women to post a disclosure saying that California provides free or low-cost abortion and contraception services. The disclosure had to include a phone number for a county office that refers women to Planned Parenthood and other abortionists. ADF represented NIFLA and took the case all the way to the Supreme Court, where the Court ruled in favor of the pregnancy care centers holding that the law violated the First Amendment.
